Photography has become my way of slowing down, being present, and noticing more of the world around me.
Since moving from southwest Missouri, USA to Surrey, England, I've found myself seeing both countries a little differently. I stop more often, catching myself saying, “Wow… look at that.” Britain has become a place of endless discovery, while returning home reminds me of the beauty I once overlooked and took for granted.
Some of my favorite photographs aren’t of famous places. They’re the quiet details that most people walk past.
I'm drawn to places where history, engineering, nature, and everyday life intersect. Sometimes that's an iconic landmark like Stonehenge. Other times it's the quiet details: a weathered steam valve, reflections on polished metal, an empty bridge, the light filtering through a forest, or a fleeting reflection that almost went unnoticed.
I don't set out simply to photograph places.
I want to capture the feeling I had being there.
I photograph what made me stop.
If one of my photographs makes you pause for a moment, brings back a memory, or helps you notice something you might otherwise have walked past, then I've accomplished exactly what I hoped to do.
